What's Blooming this May at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay?

If you love the foliage and flowers at Busch Gardens as much as I do, right now is one of the best times of the year to visit the park. We are experiencing great springtime weather and the whole park is alive with color. We have unique annuals, vines and trees blooming throughout the park.

Our African tulip tree, located at the corner of the Sultan Sweets patio, is in full bloom. This tree has magnificent orange flowers covering every branch. This makes a great specimen tree; however, it damaged by frost. Gardener's tip: Plant close to a building with lots of sunlight to keep it protected during the winter.

Spathodea campanulata

Right now one of my favorite plants in the park is blooming and that is our Rangoon Creeper vine. You can find it in front of Gwazi. It has beautiful clumps of flowers that start out white, then over the next 2 days turn pink then red. This flower smell like pina coladas!

Quisqualis indica

Our red passion vine is blooming in Kangaloom and Jungala. This plant has gorgeous deep red flowers. Makes a great plant for a backyard archway and will also attract butterflies.

Passiflora manicata

We also have Foxglove or Digitalis. This is a beautiful perennial and will bloom throughout the summer. The leaves of this plant have a chemical in them that is used in some Doctor prescribed heart medications.

Digitalis spp.

Another great perennial we have is the Vietnamese Hollyhock. You can find these in Kangaloom in the Backyard garden along with many other great plants. These plants are heat tolerant and attract butterflies.

Alcea spp.

These are only a few of the many beautiful plants that we have blooming right now at Busch Gardens. The best way to see our forever-changing landscape is to pay for a day and play all year with Busch Gardens Fun Card.
