The Busch Gardens Zoo Team Invites you to a Hyena Birthday Party!
WHEN: Sunday, January 29at 11:00 a.m.
WHERE: Edge of Africa.
WHAT: Taziki, the birthday girl, will be 4 years old. Animal care specialists will place a variety of enrichment items in her habitat to enjoy -- frozen blood-sicles, rib bones, apples, peanut butter, bamboo. Hyenas have very strong jaws and will devour bones such as ribs in mere minutes. Unlike lions, hyenas live in female dominant social groups. Taziki’s mother, Tamu and Makali, our only male hyena will also be attending the party.
Becca Phillips, animal care specialist and party planner describes Taziki as “spirited, inquisitive and quick to learn. She is the first to investigate new enrichment or changes to her habitat. She loves to play chase, dig burrows, chew sticks and play in the pool.
