Last month, more than 60 students from 17 different schools attended High School Journalism Day at Busch Gardens. They auditioned to be Howl-O-Scream scare-actors, took a behind-the-scenes tour of a haunted house, and tried out garland wrapping for Christmas Town.
There are just three weeks left of Howl-O-Scream. You haven’t gone yet? Then you are definitely missing out! For all you procrastinating scare-lovers out there, I have a few deals to tell you about. These tips will help you save your money getting your whole crew in so you have more money to spend on things like beverages (if you're 21 and up, beers and cocktails) once you're inside the gates.
Halloween at Busch Gardens is one of my favorite times of the year -- and it has nothing to do with all the scary zombie hoards or the clowns with chainsaws roaming around the park. Rather it has to do with the fact that I get to put on my hot pink wig and become a nurse in the most fun show I have ever had the opportunity to be a part of.
Each year, our mad scientists return to the lab to create specialty cocktails to appease the vampires, zombies and Busch Gardens guests that roam about Howl-O-Scream.
This fall, Howl-O-Scream 2012 lures unsuspecting victims to explore the terror that grows behind the Dark Side of the Gardens’ gate and “Unlock the Fear Inside.” As Florida’s top-rated Halloween event celebrates its unlucky 13th year, it just may be your own curiosity that seals your fate!

More than 60 students from four Florida counties grabbed their notebooks and camera equipment for High School Journalism Day 2012. The student journalists attended four sessions where they took behind-the-scenes tours and learned how the park simultaneously prepares for two very different holiday events.
